I started in a classroom.

I'm also a product of independent schools myself. I grew up in one, and that's part of why I understand this world as well as I do.

After a short stint in the NYC art world, I spent years teaching high school history in New York City. Most of that job was figuring out how to take something complicated and make it clear enough for a teenager to care about (if you've ever tried to get a room of teenagers to care about something that isn't on their phone, you know exactly how hard that is). That instinct, translate first, explain second, is still how I work.

Here's the deal: I kept seeing the same pattern, organizations with real missions and real stories, posting occasionally, not quite sure why it wasn't working. I built Get Social With Garin to fix that specific problem.

I work with independent schools, summer camps, and mission-driven organizations to build a strategy and then teach the team to run it. Your team leaves understanding it, believing in it, and knowing how to keep it going after I'm gone.

The organizations I work with need a strategist, someone who speaks their language, understands the rhythms of their year, and can turn what matters to them into content that reaches the people they're trying to find.

I have an M.Ed. from Teachers College, Columbia University. I'm based in Westchester County, New York, with my husband, kids, and a puppy. I keep a small practice by design, a handful of clients at a time, small enough that I know what's happening in every account without having to ask, so the work gets real attention.
